Guatemala

Children Available:
Newborns, healthy, male and female.

Travel Requirements:
Three days to one week travel to Guatemala City. Only one parent may travel if necessary. Escorting is an option but it adds several weeks to the process.

Length of Process:
Adoptions from Guatemala generally take 4-6 months from the time of referral. Referrals typically take between 1-2 months, however, referrals can take up to 6 months for infant females and up to three months for infant males.

Criteria:
Married couples and single women, age 25 years or older, are eligible to adopt from Guatemala.

Interesting Facts:
Most babies are born in the hospital. All babies are placed in foster homes. Monthly photo updates are received along with regular medical checkups.
